Charter of Cyrus the Great

Now that I have crowned Iran , Babylon and the four countries with the help of Mazda , I declare that:

• Until the day that I am alive and Mazda brings me the kingdom, I will honor the religion and beliefs of the people of whom I am the king and I will not allow my rulers and subordinates to demean the religion, religion and ways of other peoples or are boring
• Today, I am the officer of the kingdom, until the day I am alive and Mazda has granted me the kingdom, I will never impose my rule on any people by force, and in my kingdom every nation is free to accept me as its king or not. And if he doesn't want to, I am the king of Iran , Babylon and the four countries and I will not allow anyone to oppress another. And I will punish the wicked.
• Until the day I am king, I will not allow anyone to take someone else's property by force and by any other wrong method without paying its true value.
• I declare that everyone is free to choose any religion and religion they want, to live wherever they want, to worship as they believe, to practice their beliefs, and to choose any business they want. to do; Only on the condition that he does not violate anyone's rights and does not harm the rights of others.
• I declare that everyone is responsible for their actions. No one should be punished because one of his relatives committed a crime. Only the perpetrator is punished and there is no punishment for other people, family and relatives.
• Until the day I live, I will not allow men and women to be bought and sold under the name of slaves or maidservants or other names, and these anti-human customs must be abolished.
• I ask Mazda to make me victorious in fulfilling my obligations towards the nations of Iran and the four countries.
